Woodridge

Serenity of Woodridge Real Estate

By Featured Home

Named for the prominent Wood Ridge Forest Preserve that edges the DuPage River’s east branch, the Village of Woodridge is located just east of popular Naperville real estate and southwest of Chicago.  The Village’s homespun hospitality, a growing economy, and a well-tended natural beauty accent the lovely neighborhoods of Woodridge real estate.

The relatively young population includes students, single professionals, growing families, empty nesters, and retirees with a variety of tastes and budgets.  Fortunately, the well-educated residents do have a wide range of options.  Woodridge homes are available in all price ranges and styles in proximity to the nine forest preserves that surround the area.  Luxury homes in Woodridge, affordable single-family Woodridge residences, and the increasingly popular low-maintenance Woodridge townhomes and condominiums sit side by side in the mixed neighborhoods in DuPage County close to the larger communities of Naperville and Downers Grove.

Since Woodridge’s incorporation in August 1959, the Village’s population has jumped from 459 to 35,000.  Progressive planning has given birth to some exemplary projects such as the off-road Bikeway System.  Add to that lovely rolling greens, foliage-filled fairways, and 500 acres of verdant parklands and you see citizens of all ages leaping into the great outdoors.  Golfers take advantage of the town’s courses at Seven Bridges, Village Greens, and Zigfield Troy, or easily access others in the area.  The Illinois Park and Recreation Association recently recognized the Park District for excellence in maintaining the open spaces and recreational facilities.

With three major shopping centers to choose from, residents can find both the basics and specialty gifts locally.  Dozens of tantalizing restaurants and places like the Brunswick Entertainment Center arcade and bowling alley and the Village fitness center provide a variety of indoor options.

Families appreciate the quality education provided by several school districts including Naperville, Center Cass, Lemont and Valley View along with parochial schools.  Convenient colleges, world-class universities, and other training facilities make it easy for people of all ages to gain skills.  And they do.  Citizens work diligently to promote economic prosperity.  They have built a strong industrial base and flourishing retail activity.  Internationale Centre, one of the largest multi-use business parks under development in the Chicago area is bringing in more jobs, lower taxes, and abundant goods and services.   The diverse base of industry includes education, health and social services, manufacturing, professional, scientific, management, administrative, and waste management, retail trade, finance, insurance, real estate, and rental and leasing.

The healthy growth has produced a healthy community dedicated to the Golden Rule.  As a self-providing, civically responsible community, resident welfare and protection are highly valued.  Civic groups of all sorts are very active.  For example, a volunteer-based organization supplies food and sundries for citizens in need.  City Watch provides responsive emergency services.

The option to enjoy a cosmopolitan city and international travel via Chicago is just 25 miles past the I-355/I-55 junction.  But many a friendly citizen is perfectly happy staying right at home for a serene stroll through the maple and oak trees along the river.
