In the hub of “Chicagoland,” the historic railroad Village of Lisle is one of the busiest commuter rail stops west of the city. Lisle is just far enough for a welcome retreat yet close enough to take advantage of metropolitan amenities. Her hometown appeal, natural beauty, and 25,000 residents blend relaxation with a thriving business and social base. With the O’Hare International and Midway Airports, numerous historical museums, shopping, dining, and riverboat casinos just down the track, Lisle real estate offers the best of both worlds.
Property in Lisle is nestled just east of Naperville real estate in the very heart of the fertile DuPage County real estate. Houses in Lisle are designed within an architectural gamut running from historic to modern—all set in well-manicured Lisle neighborhoods. Lovely estate homes in Lisle near golf courses and water features are unparalleled in beauty. And Lisle condominiums and townhouses with a variety of styles are easy to maintain and priced to fit every budget.
Originally home to Pottawatomie Indians, the Erie Canal opened up transportation for many settlers to easily access the area. Farmers relished the easy timber, fertile land, and water resources. After present day Ogden Avenue was extended to Chicago and the railroad extended through the Village from Chicago to nearby Aurora, the population boomed. Today, the town’s old railroad depot once destroyed by fire was rebuilt and sits with the historic Beaubien Tavern at Lisle Station Park. The Village was not formally incorporated until 1956.
The village maintains over 500 acres of parks, recreational facilities, and golf courses. A 110-acre community park with a variety of recreational amenities including an outdoor amphitheatre, band shell, fishing pond, baseball fields, swimming pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, playground, and an ice-skating rink keeps lots of people on the move. Additionally, the youth are lucky to be able to learn baseball and basketball skills at the huge Chicago Bulls/White Sox Training Academy. Snow skiers and snowboarders head out to Four Lakes Ski Hill. And people still enjoy a Sunday drive to the 1,700-acre Morton Arboretum with its miles of roads and foot trails.
The fine Community School District 202 and Naperville District 203 engage students in educational activities, as do several private schools like St. Joan of Arc Elementary School and Benet Academy. The two-year College of DuPage, North Central College, and Wheaton College, and Benedictine University are also in the area. It is noteworthy that Benedictine University offers one the Midwest’s largest bird collections at its Jurica Nature Museum—keeping up with the village slogan, “Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future."
Governing bodies and leaders walk a tightrope to meet the needs of residents at the same time as they reach out to new and existing businesses. Fortunately, the excellent location at the nexus of the East-West and North-South Tollways is the logical position for the center of the Illinois Research and Development Corridor that continues to attract corporations, hotels, and facilities. Worldwide headquarters or major branches of Lucent Technologies, Tellabs, Molex, IKON Office Solutions, Wallace Computer Services, Computer Associates, Budget Rent-a-Car and AT&T are nicely docked here.
So, when you decide to have the best of both worlds, come experience all that the Village has to offer. Talk to some neighbors and just imagine your family next door. We’ll be happy to introduce you.
