Located directly south of Naperville real estate, the old prairie town of Plainfield, Illinois has become a focal point for exciting growth and a renaissance-like development.  An excellent quality of life provided by good schools, low crime, and cultural and recreational opportunities as well as ample options for employment has pushed the Village of Plainfield’s population up to over 21,000 in recent years.  People who were raised in Plainfield are returning home to raise their children along side other young families seeking the affordable cost of living.

Plainfield Township offers a unique blend of old and new.  Plainfield real estate is no exception.  Single-family Plainfield homes range from the mid $100,000s to $1 million plus.  Neighborhoods such as Aspen Meadows, Kendall Ridge, and Wesmere Country Club offer some homes beginning in the upper $100,000s.  Well-established Bronk Estates, Heritage Meadows, Wallin Woods, and Wilding Point neighborhoods start in the mid $300,000's.   Newer subdivisions such as Dayfield, Dunmore Estates, Grande Park, Prairie Ponds, Shenandoah, and White Ash Farm offer more custom options and community amenities such as clubhouses and swimming pools beginning in the high $300,000's.  Water lovers can splurge on a Will County executive estate property at The Lakelands, a tranquil gated community, or in River Pointe Estates.

As Will County's oldest community, a vibrant historic downtown district has several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  These are woven next to new businesses and residences.  The community is known for its trademark pride and strength as it has faced with dignity many challenges, including tornado, while maintaining a forward-thinking attitude.

Families love the area lakes, 41 parks, recreation center, open space, picnic sites, athletic fields, outdoor swimming pool, fishing ponds, canoe launches, outdoor ice skating, playgrounds, dog park, and equestrian center.  The active YMCA also provides a great place to learn and have fun.  The schools are highly rated and serve Will and Kendall counties.

The community-oriented atmosphere moves many to volunteerism.  A variety of religious institutions, clubs, and organizations offer fulfilling affiliations and projects for residents who want to make a difference.  One place to help out is within the Village government as it stretches to accommodate growth and encourage new commercial and industrial development.

The Windy City is less than an hour via Interstate 55 or only a short Metra ride into downtown.   Residents reap the benefits of Chicago’s world-class shopping, dining, entertainment, sports, museums, employment options, and easy travel from both the O'Hare International and Midway Airports.  Content to be away from it all, however, many residents opt for the big city only once in a blue moon.
